Memorial Day Weekend 2012 – Fun stuff at the Jersey Shore!

Here’s what’s happening at the Jersey Shore on Memorial Day Weekend 2012:

Sandy Hook

Enjoy a view of the Manhattan skyline on this history rich 1600+ acre barrier peninsula paradise, discovered by Henry Hudson in the 1600s. Relax and take in the sun on some of the nicest beaches in New Jersey, including a clothing optional section at Gunnison Beach. If you’re into a sea side adventure, Sandy Hook has it all. Fish, hike, bike, camp, Kite surf, bird watch, picnic or take a stroll along the trail that runs the length of the park. Get more details at the Gateway National Recreation area website.

Windansea in Highlands. Restaurant, Bar and Waterside dining. Relaxing setting to enjoy some drinks or a delicious meal, after a day at the beach. Great selection of fresh seafood, salads, sandwiches and tasty entrees. Don’t miss their Reggae Bash with Random Test, starting at 5:30 pm on Sunday, May 27th, 2012.


Sunday, May 27th, 2012. Food Truck Wars and Beer Tasting at Monmouth Park.  Get a taste of everything from Lobster to hot dogs, cupcakes and more at the first Food Truck Wars and Beer Tasting at Monmouth Park on Sunday, May 27th, 2012. Sample a variety of craft beers from your local and regional favorites.  Details at the Monmouth Park Racetrack website.

Asbury Park

McLoone’s Asbury Grille. Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Experience the shore’s sites, sounds and tastes on the newly renovated Asbury Park boardwalk.  Check out their famous Sunday Brunch and lots of live entertainment options at Tim McLoone’s Supper Club above the Grille.

Spring Lake

Saturday, May 26th, 2012. Spring Lake 5 Mile Run.  Kick off the summer with this New Jersey tradition! Started in 1977 with 500 runners, it’s grown to host almost 10,000 runners each year and has become the largest road race in the state.  Recognized as one of the Top 100 races by Runner’s World Magazine. Grab your running shoes to experience this scenic run at the Jersey Shore and just maybe go for the race record of 23:16.  Race starts at the intersection of Ocean and Sussex Avenues..

Point Pleasant Beach

Sunday, May 27th, 2012. Jenkinson’s Aquarium behind the scenes tour.  Discover what goes on behind the scenes at the aquarium while you tour the building top to bottom! $14 Adults. $10 Children. Call 732-899-1659 to pre-register.  More details at the Jenkinson’s Aquarium website.

Wharfside Patio Bar. A step away from the boardwalk crowds, the Patio Bar offers casual grille, raw bar and cocktails overlooking the tranquil Manasquan River and Inlet Islands.  At night, the Patio Bar turns tropical with warm sea breezes, cool sunsets and the summer sounds of the Jersey Shore’s most popular bands.

Atlantic City

Friday, May 25th-Monday, May 28th, 2012. Revel Resort official launch.  Get your first view of this $2.4 Billion, 6.3 million square foot, 1900 room, mega-resort casino in Atlantic City.  The first casino to open in Atlantic City, since 2003.  The much anticipated launch provides a 130,000 square foot casino floor, 14 new restaurants, shops, theaters, nightclubs, 10 pools and a huge launch concert featuring Beyonce.


Friday, May 25th-Sunday, May 27th, 2012. Celebration of Heroes Festival.
